Once I arrive at your home, I will take care of everything.
I’ll only require a small area to set up — ideally no larger than a 7ft square space — with access to two plug sockets.
Prior to your session, I will text you with all the details you’ll need to prepare for the day of your shoot. For maternity sessions, I’ll suggest a few clothing ideas for you to have ready, although I also have a selection of beautiful dresses that I can bring with me. For both maternity and newborn sessions, I will offer guidance on ideal colour palettes when parents and siblings are included.
My biggest advice is always to keep things clean, natural, and as fuss-free as possible. However, these are your images, and they should absolutely reflect you and your family’s personalities too.
For your newborn shoot, in order to keep your baby comfortable, settled, and sleepy throughout the session, I kindly ask that your home is kept warm. Babies are often undressed for much of the shoot, and even during summer months, a cool room can make it more difficult for them to settle. I will also bring a small heater with me, just in case.
Before the session, it is helpful if your baby is fed, calm, and relaxed. However, please don’t worry if additional feeding is needed during the shoot — this is completely normal.
Newborn sessions are always completely baby-led, and I regularly pause for feeding, cuddles, and settling whenever needed. It is also perfectly normal for babies to be awake at times, so there is absolutely no need to worry. A calm environment can make all the difference, as babies naturally respond to how we feel — when you’re relaxed, they tend to be too.
If siblings or family members are being included, it’s always worth planning outfits in advance. I recommend natural, clean, light colours that complement each other beautifully, helping to create timeless images you’ll treasure forever.
If your baby is particularly unsettled and we require additional time, I will always discuss this with you during the session. You will have the option to continue, with any extra time charged accordingly, and I will guide you based on what we have already captured.
Once I have captured everything possible within your session time, I will carefully pack away my equipment and leave you to enjoy the rest of your day.
