Meeting your photographer

Hi, I’m Nicky — mum to two very grown-up sons, a proud dog mum, and the face behind the camera, where your journey of capturing the most magical memories begins.

I specialise in creating timeless portraits of babies and growing families, all within the comfort of your own home. As a newborn photographer covering Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Derbyshire, the Midlands, Cheshire, Shropshire and surrounding areas, I bring a calm, relaxed experience directly to you during those precious early days.

My journey working with newborns began over 24 years ago when I trained as a breastfeeding advisor, supporting new mothers and their babies at the very start of their journey. This experience naturally led me into newborn photography, and with over 17 years behind the camera, you can feel completely confident that your little one is in safe, patient and caring hands.

My aim is not only to create beautiful images, but to give you a relaxed, meaningful experience — capturing those fleeting early moments you’ll treasure forever.

Newborns

Newborn shoots are where it all started and where my passion lies. Those early days with your baby pass by so quickly, and it’s such a privilege and honour for me to help families preserve those tiny details and precious memories through beautiful photographs. My aim is always to create a calm, relaxed experience for both you and your little one(s), so you leave not only with timeless images, but also with a special memory of your baby’s very first portrait session.

If you’re expecting a little one or have recently welcomed your baby into the world, I would be honoured to capture these precious early moments for you. Newborn sessions are best photographed within the first few weeks, so please feel free to get in touch to check availability or ask any questions.

Many parents choose to book their newborn session during pregnancy to ensure availability around their baby’s due date, so I always recommend getting in touch early to secure your session, as spaces are limited and book up quickly.

I pencil newborn sessions into my diary based on your due date and then confirm your session once baby arrives.

I also offer maternity shoots within your own home home.

Hi Nicky! I just wanted to send you a message to say how truly amazing you’ve been for our family. I’ve now used you for both of my boys, 7 years apart, and both experiences have been incredible from start to finish. I especially wanted to thank you again for our shoot in October. My little one just wouldn’t settle or sleep and you were so patient, spending hours gently trying to soothe him. We never once felt rushed and nothing was ever too much trouble. You really do have the magic touch! You made me feel so welcome, which meant everything as it was my first time out with the baby. 5 years ago we had our first photo shoot with Nicky. Our daughter was 3 months old Covid had stopped us from having a newborn shoot, Nicky made the Photoshoot feel like a newborn shoot and the photos were amazing and that was the start of a beautiful relationship and 5 years on, 8 photoshoots and hundreds of gorgeous photos and memories later, we love being able to capture both Ophelia and Diego growing up. As new parents you have no idea what to expect from a newborn shoot experience. But walking into Nickys warm welcoming studio back in 2021, we felt instantly at ease. A gorgeous hot coffee, a friendly face and lovely atmosphere to welcome us was absolutely perfect. Nicky then takes over with your baby, and it’s pure magic. ✨ your ability to settle the babies and get the most gorgeous positions is just incredible. Your calm, nurturing and give new parents chance to watch their baby but while having a well earned break with a hot brew. After that first shoot I knew we’d come to the right place. 🥹 Roll on several shoots and two more beautiful children later and we’re still coming to you. Why? To feel that feeling again. 😍 Except bringing our girls with us is even more magical. Your manner with the children is just gorgeous, they’re instantly relaxed around you. This last time our little Lilia tested the process, and we had to come for a second and then third shoot. You never gave up, even when I was ready too you persisted and got the most gorgeous shots I will treasure forever. 🤍 Watching you take pictures of our 3 children was a moment in time I will keep in my head forever and I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else doing that for us but you Nicky.
